Ceija Stallion

“You’re the matriarch of the home, he has to respect that, who else is gonna be willing to put him up rent free? It’s beautiful what you’re doing, but lay down the law, don’t let him go from a ward of the state to a ward of his sister.”

-Ceija to June, Book II

Ceija is a homemaker who thrives at her caravan campsite outside of the city. She lives with her brothers who share her space and resources, and Ceija takes pride in caring for her brothers, horses, and those she loves. June was lucky enough to be taken under Ceija’s wing one day when her bike gave out on her, and Ceija pulled up on her horse-drawn wagon, defying the usual scenery on June's commute home from Abuela's. But this is Ceija’s way, and June loved her from that chance meeting. Ceija’s kindness extends to anyone who deserves a helping hand, or who may benefit from her self-sufficiency and her wisdom that comes from a well-lived life.

June was pleasantly taken aback by the kindness Ceija offered. She felt a strong platonic magnetism to her, and it was evidently mutual. Ceija poured them wine, June rolled them weed, and the pair shared stories well into the night. Since that chance encounter, June had visited Ceija a handful of times on her way back from Abuela’s. They seldom spoke between meeting up, but whenever in each other’s company, they fell immediately into a rapport of long-serving friends.
