Sherm the Germ
"He’ll share when he’s ready! And when you are ready, I’d really love to meet them. You know, I’m sure I could do great work as your manager.”
- Sherm to Jonny & Kiwi, Book I
The only child of two mothers, Sherm the Germ is the hard working janitor keeping Small Hours passably clean. Born and raised in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Sherm's day consists of skateboarding, fantasy games, and marijuana. He spends his nights with a mop in one hand, reaching for a career in the music industry.
Unremarkably average throughout school, Sherm reserved his brain space for remembering every trick that's been landed at the Brooklyn Bridge, tracklists of obscure jazz recordings, and all the character effects in his trading card collection. The Germ has become a pre-internet database of nerdy knowledge.
"Painting minis is like therapy for me, it’s so medatative. Throw on an audiobook, or good album, and nothing else exists in the world."
- Sherm to Kate, Book II
Sherm was best friends with Charlie since learning to walk, and when Jonny moved to New York, the duo became an inseparable trio. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted. Redacted.
Following Charlie's death, and Jonny's incarceration, Sherm threw himself whole-heartedly into hobbies and a job hunt. He painted the most killer squad of miniatures to ever grace his local game store, he landed a perfect tre flip down a seven-stair, and secured a custodial gig at a cult underground TV show.
“It was hard, man. Without you, without Charlie. Dealing with all that pain, and having neither of my brothers around to talk to. I kinda forced myself on June after a while. I knew we were only friends because of proximity to you, but, over the last few years, we really got close. She helped me so much.”
“Yea, she’s good at that.”
“I can’t even imagine what you went through, bro. And, you know, if you didn’t do what you did, and if you didn’t miss the shuttle—”
