Small Hours

The lights came up in the studio and people quickened,

the workers began buzzing around, members of the audience made a beeline towards Vinnie and Robbie. They were both soon swarmed by people looking for a quick conversation, polaroid or autograph.

Hosted by the cockney entertainment tyrant Vinnie Cliff, Small Hours is the late night / early morning talkshow, depending on your life choices. Located in the East Village of Manhattan, the studio overlooks Tompkins Square Park, occupying the entire top-floor of its building. The show broadcasts on public access to a handful of viewers, amassing a small but dedicated cult following. Small Hours is known for having phenomenal  musical guests, bringing in both underground legends and independent up-and-comers. Among the members of the house band Jonny Vulcain is the freshest face, playing guitar alongside Drums and Bass on drums and bass, and the era-ignorant SK on saxophone. The studio is kept halfway clean by Sherm the Germ.

Jonny didn’t feel comfortable on the couch anymore, but he didn’t feel comfortable leaving either. Thankfully, Vinnie seemed content in continuing to listen to the record in silence. Given an opportunity to deeper soak in his surroundings, Jonny noticed a decapitated deer head that hung on the wall above him. Its glazed over doey stare immediately aided his unease. On the wall adjacent, an obnoxiously large British flag was pinned. Unfortunately, avid nationalism made Jonny’s skin crawl equal to game hunting. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the music as best he could.
