Vinnie Cliff

He was unremarkably tall, yet inescapably imposing. His eyes almost vibrated in their sockets. His arms were folded across a crisp black shirt and a silk red tie. Red suspenders held up wool trousers with a razor sharp crease. The toe caps on his black oxford shoes were shined to a mirror finish.

- Book I, T-Minus

Born above his fathers pie & mash shop in London's East End, Vinnie moved to New York following the flavour of a career in entertainment. Flip-flopping between chaotic and calculated evil, Vinnie runs a tight ship at Small Hours, ruthlessly steering the wheels of motion to produce his vision.

Small Hours' custodial caretaker endures the majority of Vinnie's fury. Sherm holds a special place in Vinnie's heart, a personal parking spot in the path of a cocaine fuelled tempest. Tyrannically abusive to The Germ, Vinnie begrudgingly keeps him around due to his unrivalled skill at keeping the studio relatively clean.

Unequipped with a moral compass, Vinnie's only partially redeeming quality is his unmatchable encyclopaedic knowledge of music. Behind the showmanship, and deplorable personality, Vinnie loves nothing more than hunting the snow leopard to a solid soundtrack.

“I gotta ask, what’s up with the super villain grizzly rug?”

“Ah! Lucille, my proudest ‘unt. Shot ‘er myself up in Canada a few years ago. For five days I was out on ‘er trail, battlin’ the elements, pushin’ my limits as a man.

Never before ‘ave I so passionately pursued the demise of something so great...

Every guest that comes through ‘ere, she’ll be the first bear they’ve ever seen—and you know what, I fuckin’ killed ‘er. Ha! Ain’t nothin’ in life too big a’fall. ‘Member that. A poor man might spread the cloths of ‘is dreams for you’a tread on, I present you the skin of a queen. Tread softly.”

- Vinnie to Jonny, Book I
